Specialist Care

Dementia

We provide nursing care to our residents who are suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, Korsakoff’s syndrome, vascular dementia and dementia related to Parkinson’s disease. We aim to provide a homely environment for everyone in our care where all residents have the same opportunities to experience living their life within a caring environment. We provide daily activities, including at weekends, provided by four activity co-ordinators.

They facilitate structured activities, entertainment activities and normalisation activities for those who are able to function within the community. Some of the carers have national diplomas in health and social care at levels 2 and 3. We also actively support staff to undertake such qualifications to improve the care we deliver. Nursing staff are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Our nurses have experience with residents with dementia and the RNMH nurses have specialist knowledge in dementia.

Frail and Elderly

We provide care and treatment for residents who are vulnerable, frail and elderly. We provide electric profiling beds for residents’ comfort and ease of nursing and pressure relieving equipment to those residents who are assessed as needing specialist care.

We work in conjunction with our Primary Care colleagues and the General Practitioners (GPs) provide a weekly surgery within the home for residents and of course an out-of-hours service as required. The GPs provide a direct link to community services such as diagnostic services, dietary services, physiotherapy services, incontinence services and Tissue Viability services. We also facilitate chiropody, dental and optical services for residents from within the local area.
Parkfield House also facilitates attendance at Outpatient hospital appointments for day case treatment or diagnostic appointments.
